July 5th at The Sand Dollar Bar USA! USA!

It's been quite a while since I have written about a show in my blog.  Lately it's been more of a video blog of photo montages.  The show last night at The Sand Dollar Bar was an exceptionally great time so I am moved to record the events of the evening.

Sunday Funday At Sand Dollar

During the Summer I have a weekly show at The Sand Dollar Bar in Dennisport, MA.  The Sand Dollar is the best bar on the Cape (more here). They have an amazing raw bar and on Sunday evening a two for one pizza special.  All of the food selections are delicious.  I play music on Sundays starting at 5 PM and typically play right till midnight. Last night was one of those marathon shows.

The Place Was Packed

There is nothing more energizing than playing to a room full of people who are ready to have a good time.

Last night the place was packed and stayed busy right until closing.

The Sand Dollar is family friendly during the diner hours and early in the evening there were a lot of families with small children.

It is so nice when mothers and fathers are teaching there children how to dance to the music and basically how to have a good time.

It is also nice when the 'big kids' get up and dance too.

I met some nice folks from the south shore who I hope to see at other shows.

The Sand Dollar serves buckets of beer.

The crowd really responded great to the music.

There were a lot of requests.

I saw some folks I went to school with there.

USA! USA! USA!

The US Women Soccer team was playing in the world cup championship during part of my performance.

The US ladies scored 2 quick goals while I was on break.

So I figured I would play some patriotic tunes when I started playing again.

I dedicated American Girl to the ladies on the US team and in the middle of the song they scored goal #5!

I played Proud To Be An American and the ladies won just as I was starting the chorus of the song.

 It was a magical night.

It was nice to see people from my neck of the woods there too!

People sang along to tunes.

Later in the evening there was still a lot of energy in the room and people danced and enjoyed the tunes.

One of my favorite songs to play is Franklin's Tower by the Grateful Dead.  Some folks were there who had gone to the recent fare thee well show in Chicago and I ended the show with a redux rendition of the tune.

The Staff Is Awesome!

The staff at the Sand Dollar Bar is awesome.

From the greeting you receive when you arrive to the good night on your way out the folks at the Sand Dollar treat you right.

Looking Forward

I am playing every Sunday night for the rest of this Summer at The Sand Dollar.  I hope to see you there and we can share the magic.
